{"id":681,"date":"2017-08-25T07:15:33","date_gmt":"2017-08-25T13:15:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.insure-us.org\/blog\/?p=681"},"modified":"2017-07-19T11:36:49","modified_gmt":"2017-07-19T17:36:49","slug":"adhd-teens-and-car-accidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.insure-us.org\/blog\/adhd-teens-and-car-accidents\/","title":{"rendered":"ADHD teens and car accidents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Teens with attention-deficit\/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) are more likely to have a car accident, according to a new study.<\/p>\n<p>According to Allison Curry, director of epidemiology and biostatistics at the Center for Injury Research and Prevention at Children&#8217;s Hospital of Philadelphia, ADHD teens are less likely to get a license after they become eligible and more likely to have an accident.<\/p>\n<p>Curry&#8217;s study compared New Jersey health records to car accidents. Of the 2,500 teens with ADHD, nearly 43 percent had a car crash. About 36 percent of teens without ADHD had a crash, the study found.<\/p>\n<p>Only 12 percent of ADHD teens had been prescribed medication in the month before driving.<\/p>\n<p>The study was reported in the journal JAMA Pediatrics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Teens with attention-deficit\/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) are more likely to have a car accident, according to a new study.
